Kathrin C. Meyer, PhD, trained in cellular and biomedical sciences at the Institute of Cell Biology in Berne, Switzerland, and completed postdoctoral research at the Center for Gene Therapy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. From 2017–2024, Dr. Meyer was a Principal Investigator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University, where she developed novel cellular models to study neurological disorders and develop new therapeutics, with main focus gene therapy. Dr. Meyer led multiple intrathecal gene therapy programs into ongoing clinical trials, including treatments for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Batten disease, SMARD1/CMT2S, NEDAMSS and SLC6A1. She is the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Neela Therapeutics, focused on developing novel therapies for pediatric neurological disorders.
